
CAMP FLYING EAGLE
UPPER MANATEE RIVER ROAD
BRADENTON, FLORIDA
It is about 10 miles East of Interstate 75 off of Hwy 64 (exit 220)
Directions from 75:
Go east on hwy 64 about 3 miles to the traffic light by the
CVS and Hess Gas Station.
This is Upper Manatee River Rd. turn North
or left, go about 6 miles and the camp in on the left. There are signs.
If you are coming East on 64 and you find Rye Rd turn right or
north and just before
you cross the bridge on the Manatee River by Rye
Wilderness Park
turn left or west on Upper Manatee River Rd. the camp is
about 1 mile on the right.
Camp Flying Eagle began in the late 1920's and is still in use
today as a camp providing the outdoors to Scouts and visitors as well. It is
situated
on the Manatee River in the Manatee District of the Southwest Florida
Council.
The Manatee or "Singing River" provides a backdrop for the amphitheater
outside the dining hall, and also provides several water activities.
The unique
contrast to the busy world is a favorite.
